Sheldon Fireworks Season Is ALMOST Here

Sheldon, Iowa — Independence Day is right around the corner, and what could be more American than Mom, apple pie and shooting off fireworks?

But in Sheldon, as in most locations in Iowa, you can’t shoot off consumer fireworks just any old time, there are times when it’s legal and times when it’s not. Sheldon City Manager Sam Kooiker tells us when it IS legal to shoot off your consumer fireworks in Sheldon. Spoiler alert…..it starts Monday.

Kooiker says there are not only restrictions on dates and times for shooting fireworks, but also on WHERE you can shoot off your consumer fireworks.

Kooiker talked about the enforcement procedures for fireworks violations in the City of Sheldon.

The bottom line, according to Kooiker, is celebrate the Independence Day carefully, soberly, on your own property, and exercise good judgment in the use of consumer grade fireworks.
