Sheldon Gas Prices Up 51 Cents A Gallon Since Beginning Of This Week

Sheldon, Iowa — If you’ve noticed the pump price for gas in Sheldon Thursday, you might find yourself wishing you had topped off your tank at the beginning of the week.

At the beginning of this week, pump prices in Sheldon were $4.08 per gallon, down from $4.19 the week before. Then sometime Tuesday morning, the prices shot up 31-cents to $4.39 a gallon. The most recent price increase came Thursday morning, when the price jumped another 20-cents a gallon, bringing the pump price to $4.59.

According to Triple-A, the average price in Iowa, as of Thursday, is $4.39 a gallon, some 20-cents lower than in Sheldon.

Triple-A lists the National average pump price Thursday at $4.72 a gallon. They say the most expensive place to fill up is California, where gas averages $6.21 a gallon. The lowest price for a gallon of gas can be found in Arkansas, where the average pump price is $4.24 a gallon.

Triple-A predicts that the increased demand for gasoline brought on by travel season, will cause the price we pay at the pump to increase as the summer continues.
