Four Orab Musicians Selected for All-State Festival

Le Mars, Iowa — Some of the Sheldon High School music students auditioned for All State in LeMars on October 22nd.

Cliff St. Clair, the Sheldon High School band director, told KIWA that four band students auditioned for the All State Band, with one being accepted.

Orab Choir Director Brandon Lenderink says seven Orab vocalists auditioned for the All State Choir, with three accepted, senior Claire Krogman, sophomore Preston Crawley and sophomore Christian Richards. Lenderink says this is the second time Krogman has been accepted into the All-State Chorus.

There are three ensembles in All State, which are Band, Orchestra and Choir. Students from all over Iowa audition for spots in each of these ensembles. In November all the students who were accepted will get together and practice for a few days before performing an All State concert. At the concert there are composers who come and some musical speakers, who speak to the students.

The 2022 Iowa All-State Music Festival will be held November 17th through 19th in Ames.
