Sheldon Hot Dog Day Returns Monday Evening

Sheldon, Iowa — Another traditional summer event that was shelved last year due to the pandemic will take place this coming Monday in Sheldon.

Hot Dog Day, an event in which Sheldon businesses grill thousands of free hot dogs outside in front of their establishments, is designed to thank customers for their patronage. Sheldon Chamber Executive Shantel Oostra tells us more.

Oostra says there are eight businesses who will be competing to be known as the “Top Dog” for Hot Dog Day.

She says that while you’re out and about for hot dogs Monday night, you can also take the opportunity to shop Sheldon’s stores.

Oostra stressed that, while downtown Sheldon businesses are serving hot dogs, the savory sausages will also be available at various businesses outside the downtown corridor, including Hy-Vee, Peoples Bank, JESS Food Service, Lewis Drug and G& E Cabinetry, who will all be serving Monday evening.

Sheldon Hot Dog Days is this Monday, beginning at 5:00 pm and going until 7:00, or until the hotdogs are gone.
