Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon’s Housing Assessment Strategic Planning Committee met earlier this week to continue their work after the Readiness Assessment delivered by Iowa State University Extension and outreach.
Sheldon Development Director Curt Strouth called the meeting a good opportunity for the group to further dive into the housing survey information collected during the recent Housing Assessment Survey.
Strouth talked about some of the needs that the group has identified as priorities.
Another need identified, according to Strouth, is more affordable single-family housing.
He says the committee wants to create a stairstep approach to creating housing.
Strouth says that, in addition to priorities for new housing in the community, one of the committee’s priorities involves rehab of existing properties.
He says the housing assessment and the committee’s strategic planning will serve as a housing roadmap for Sheldon going forward.
