Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon man was injured late Tuesday afternoon when his motorcycle was struck by an SUV at the corner of Park Street (Highway 18) and Washington Avenue in Sheldon.
According to the Sheldon Police Department, about 5:00 Tuesday afternoon, a 1999 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by 55-year-old Jake Scott of Sheldon, was northbound on Washington Avenue, and attempted a left turn onto Park Street, when, police say, a westbound 2010 Ford Edge, driven by 18-year-old Harlie Ann Tesch of Granville failed to stop at the Washington Avenue traffic light, striking Scott’s Harley in the side.
Authorities say Scott was taken to the Sanford Sheldon Medical Center by SCAT for treatment of what the report describes as “minor injuries.”
Damage to Scott’s Harley was estimated at $1,500, with no damage reported to Tesch’s SUV.
Tesch was reportedly cited for Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device, as well as Operating a Motor Vehicle With an Expired Driver License.
