Sheldon Man Pleads Guilty To Child Porn Charge; Could Face 20 Years

Sioux City, Iowa — A Sheldon man has pleaded guilty in federal court to distributing child pornography.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 22-year-old Henry Araica-Gonzales entered the plea Tuesday.

Araica-Gonzales admitted he had a sexual relationship with a minor; that he knew the victim’s age at the time; and that he filmed the encounters on both his and the victim’s phones.

Sentencing is pending completion of a presentence report. Araica-Gonzales is in the custody of federal authorities in the meantime. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years’ imprisonment and a possible maximum of up to 20 years along with a $250,000 fine and five years of supervised release following any imprisonment.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Sergeant Bluff Police Department, and the Sheldon Police Department.
