Sheldon Nurses Honored With Prestigious Nursing Awards

Sioux Falls, SD — Two Sheldon nurses have been honored with prestigious nursing awards.

Sanford Health tells us that registered nurses Kaitlin Dagel and Jessica Justi have received the awards, which were presented during the Sanford Health Nurses Week celebration in Sioux Falls.

Sanford officials tell us Dagel has received the Exemplary Professional Practice Nurse award for what they call “her outstanding nursing professional practice in providing the highest quality care to those served by Sanford Health and in illustrating the alignment and integration of the mission, vision, values and philosophy adopted by the nursing profession and Sanford Health.”

They say Justi received the Transformational Leadership award for her leadership in nursing “through the development of a clear vision, well-articulated philosophy and professional practice, as demonstrated by communicating expectations, developing leaders, meeting current and anticipated needs and strategic priorities and advocating on behalf of staff and patients.”

Sanford says the nurses week celebration is an annual event for their organization. This year’s event, held at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls, honored nurses and other health care professionals in nine categories. Nearly 590 nominations were submitted for 2023 honors.

They say National Nurses Week is acknowledged by health care organizations and the American Nurses Association annually.
