Sheldon Optometrist Pleads Not Guilty

Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon optometrist accused of assault has entered a plea of not guilty, according to court records.

According to the Sheldon Police Department, 68-year-old Dr. Allen Jones is charged with Aggravated Assault, a Serious Misdemeanor, in connection with an incident police say happened at a Sheldon business in December.

According to authorities, a no-contact order was issued against Jones in connection with the incident. Court records indicate that O’Brien County Attorney Micah Schreurs has requested a special prosecutor in the case.

Jones’ written plea was taken at an arraignment on Thursday, February 26th. A pre-trial conference is set for April 13, 2015, with a trial scheduled to start on April  28, 2015.
