Sheldon, Iowa — According to the Sheldon Police Department, Sergeant Eric Meinecke and his K9 partner Balin took first place in the vehicle search category at K9 trials this week.
We talked to Sergeant Meinecke and he tells us about the trials.
Meinecke says they don’t just do it to see how good the dogs are. It’s a requirement that they go.
He tells us how it works.
Meinecke tells us Balin did very well overall.
The sergeant says it’s good for the community to have Balin in Sheldon.
Balin has been a Sheldon Police K9 since July 2021.
