Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon Redemption Center, a bottle and can redemption center is now open on South 2nd Avenue in Sheldon, otherwise known as Business 60 South.
Owner Jackie Ney had originally planned to open the business in the former Chinese Chef location on 9th Street downtown, but had to abandon that plan due to concerns about truck traffic in the downtown area caused by the redemption center. Ney went on to locate a different property, on Business 60 South, where the Sheldon Redemption Center is now located. She tells us she had a few hoops to jump through before she could open the business in that location.
She says they opened the business earlier this year, but did so quietly to avoid being overrun with returns before they were ready.
Ney says Sheldon Redemption Center is not a business that redeems steel, tires, and the like, but will redeem drink containers.
Ney says despite that fact there is, as yet, no sign in front of the business, they are open and ready to serve you.
Sheldon Redemption Center is open Monday through Friday from 1 pm to 7 pm, and 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday.
