Sheldon Residents Urged To Report Any Flood Damage, No Matter How Small

Sheldon, Iowa — The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) isn’t convinced that O’Brien County has suffered enough damage to be included in their declaration. That from Sheldon Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director, Wayne Barahona.

He tells us they need to spread the word to all those in O’Brien County to use the reporting tool to document damage to their homes. He says there are over 500 submissions so far but its not enough.

He tells us how you can tell FEMA what kind of damage your property sustained.

Here is the link to the tool.

Barahona says from there all you have to do is follow the prompts.

Sheldon City Manager Sam Kooiker echos Barahona’s words, saying, “We know everyone is truly overwhelmed, yet the reporting to FEMA is crucial to help make O’Brien [County] eligible for FEMA individual assistance. Please do this today if possible.”
