Sheldon, Iowa — Tuesday is the day the trio of finalists for the Sheldon Community Schools Superintendent job will come to Sheldon, visit the community, and take part in face-to-face interviews with the School Board, as well as three other interview committees.
As part of the interview process, the Sheldon Community Schools Board of Education has scheduled a trio of special meetings for Tuesday, beginning late in the morning with closed sessions during which they’ll interview each of the three candidates.
The Board’s first special session will be held at 11:00 Tuesday morning, and according to the Interview Schedule released by the District, that 11:00 meeting will be the Board interview of Cory Myer, the current Superintendent of the North Iowa Community School District.
The second special meeting of the School Board will take place beginning at 3:00 Tuesday afternoon, and will include interviews with the other two candidates: Sheldon Middle School Principal Cindy Barwick at 3:00, followed by a 4:00 interview with Atlantic High School Assistant Principal Matthew Alexander, according to the Sheldon District’s Interview Schedule. The Board will conduct each of the three interviews in closed session.
The third and final School Board meeting of the day will begin at 6:00 Tuesday evening, after the various interviews are concluded, with the Board meeting in closed session to deliberate the selection of the District’s next Superintendent. These deliberations will be conducted in closed session.
Prior to adjournment of the 6:00 pm meeting, the Board will come back into open session, and, according to information from the school district, MAY take possible action on the Superintendent selection.
All three of Tuesday’s Sheldon School Board meetings will be held in the Board Room at the high school.
Whoever becomes the District’s next Superintendent will replace outgoing Superintendent Robin Spears, who will retire at the end of June.
