Sheldon Street Repair Projects Begin Monday

Sheldon, Iowa — With spring comes road construction season, and that season is scheduled to start in Sheldon this Monday, April 5th.

Sheldon City Manager Sam Kooiker tells KIWA that there are five street projects around town that are scheduled for completion this year.

(As above) “Holstein Excavating, out of Edgerton, Minnesota was the low bidder. They’ve done a lot of work in northwest Iowa and they have a good track record. This year they’re going to be working on five projects for us: North 18th Avenue; Oak Street; 3rd Avenue from 11th Street to the railroad tracks, including the famous trench by the Post Office…that’ll be fixed; Pine Street from 2nd Avenue to 5th Avenue in August; and then 5th Avenue North in September.”

Kooiker says work on the first of the five projects is slated to begin this coming Monday.

(As above) “North 18th Avenue will be closed from just south of Oak Street starting April 5 and it will be closed for several weeks. To gain access to the Village (Village Northwest Unlimited), people would need to enter Oak from the west, by Wansink Avenue. We’ll also have a temporary road from the Village employee parking lot to their driveway, so that Village residents and employees can access.”

Kooiker thanked people in advance for their patience during the construction process.
