Sheldon United Fund Total Now At $8,034

Sheldon, Iowa — Week number three of the 2020 Sheldon United Fund campaign has ended, with more than $1700 donated last week.

United Fund officials report $1,730 in donations during the past week, which brings the total to $8,034.  For the remaining ten weeks of the campaign, donations need to average about $2,297 per week in order for organizers to reach their fundraising goal of $30,000.

This year’s Sheldon United Fund drive runs through the end of December, and will benefit twenty-five non-profits in Sheldon and surrounding communities, including:

The Foster Grandparent Program serves O’Brien County and six surrounding counties. The foster grandparents are men and women age 55 and older who volunteer 15 to 40 hours each week in schools, Head Start, or daycare centers. They also sponsor the Senior Companion Program which is for 55 and over adults who would like to assist others in need.

The Sheldon Girl Scouts come from the Sheldon, Matlock, Archer, Ashton and Boyden areas. The money is used to provide activities and supplies. Local service projects are an important part of the Girl Scouts.

Sheldon United Fund donations can be dropped off at Citizen’s State Bank, Iowa State Bank, Northwestern Bank, or Peoples Bank, all in Sheldon. Or you may mail your contribution to P.O. Box 41, Sheldon, Iowa 51201.

Sheldon United Fund Board members thank the businesses and individuals in Sheldon and the surrounding area for their support.
