Sheldon’s Preparations for Iowa’s Ride Off And Running

Sheldon, Iowa — The inaugural Iowa’s Ride bicycle ride across the state will be spending Friday night, July 17th in Sheldon. The ride will depart Sunday July 12th from Dubuque, ending up in Rock Rapids at the end of the day Saturday July 18th.

Pete Hamill is one of the chairs of the Iowa’s Ride Sheldon 2020 organization, and he says the local committee is making progress, even announcing the first entertainment act for the Sheldon overnight stop.

Hamill says the Black Hills rock band the Judd Hoos Band will be playing in Sheldon, but the exact location of their performance is still somewhat up in the air.

He says the chairs of the many committees making up Iowa’s Ride Sheldon have had their initial meeting with Iowa’s Ride coordinators.

Hamill says he’s excited about Iowa’s Ride, and the fact that they announce their schedule much earlier than RAGBRAI, the other statewide ride that has made Sheldon an overnight stop in the past.

He says the chairs of the individual committees are recruiting volunteers, and lots of volunteers will be needed to take care of the several thousand bicycle riders expected to spend that Friday night in Sheldon.

Hamill says there will be more information coming in the future, but for now you can find out more by visiting the Iowa’s Ride Sheldon 2020 Facebook page.
