Sheldon, Iowa — Students from Sheldon High School have arranged a fun fundraising event that is scheduled to take place Memorial Day.
The event will be a 5k color run, which is being called “Dash for a Splash,” is being conducted by the High School Student Leadership Team and Leadership Team Member Max Hamill tells us more.
He tells us what the proceeds from Monday’s race will be used for.
We asked Hamill if the event was limited to high school students.
He says the pre-race festivities will begin at noon Monday in front of the Sheldon High School.
Hamill says they plan to run the 5k Color Run rain or shine, with a couple of notable exceptions.
He says the community has been very generous in their support of this event.
Hamill says they have 75 to 80 runners pre-registered for the race, and while pre-registration is over, he says you can still register at the high school on the day of the race. Registration fees are $25 for age 13 and over, $15 for age 5 through 12 and under 5 are free.
Monday’s 5k Color Run will begin and end in front of Sheldon High School and will travel the rec trails system around the middle school and east to Country Club road, take the rec trail around the Crossroads Pavilion area, then follow East 6th Street back to the high school.
