Sibley, Iowa — And then, there were four. The Sibley-Ocheyedan Community School District Board Of Education has narrowed the field of applicants for the superintendent position to four.
The board recently met with staff at Grundmeyer Leader Services to review the candidate pool. They tell us the position was posted and resulted in seven candidates, including three from outside the state of Iowa. The pool included six male candidates and one candidate who chose no response. Two of the candidates hold a terminal degree (Ed.D. or Ph.D.), while one holds a specialist/six-year degree. All seven candidates were presented to the board in closed session on Monday, January 30.
A statement from the board tells us that after the review of candidates’ application materials, references, licensure verification, and social media, four candidates were selected for screening interviews, which will take place Monday, February 6th. They say the screening process will allow the board to further evaluate the candidates’ qualifications for the position and narrow the process to three finalists. The search consultants will set up and facilitate the screening interviews, and finalists will be publicly named shortly after those interviews take place.
The desired qualifications identified by the district and board will continue to drive the hiring process. Stakeholders will soon be contacted to serve on the formal interview teams. These groups will include students, staff, teachers, administrators, and community members. Each person will provide the board with feedback on the finalists after the interviews. The board will conduct formal interviews with the finalists on Wednesday, February 22. The new superintendent will officially begin leading the Sibley-Ocheyedan Community School District on July 1, 2023.
