Sioux County Democrats To Be Inducted Into Iowa Dem Hall Of Fame

Sioux County, Iowa — The Sioux County Democrats are receiving statewide recognition from the Iowa Democratic Party.

The county organization will be inducted into the 2019 Iowa Democratic Party Hall of Fame as the state’s Outstanding Democratic Party Chair. The ceremony will take place during the party’s annual Celebration Event in early June in Cedar Rapids.

Sioux County Democratic Party Chair Travis Andersen says the award is a testimony to the work that the Sioux County group has been doing.

Offering progressive politics in one of Iowa’s most conservative counties, Sioux County Democrats have become a recognized presence in the last five years. They sharpened their visual identity and rebranded their organization with a new logo. They doubled the size of their central committee, offered educational forums, held Winter Picnic fundraisers, staffed display tables at college fairs, and hosted candidate appearances and a congressional debate.

Andersen talks about one of the major changes from five years ago.

The June event at which the Sioux County Democrats will be inducted will also be attended by about ten of the announced candidates who will be competing for the right to represent their party in the Presidential election next year.
