Sheldon, Iowa — Six Northwest Iowa Community College students have qualified to compete in the 2022 Iowa State SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference next month.
The six qualified for State by competing in the local competition held last week.
Students advanced in two categories: Auto & Light Diesel – College; and Auto & Light Diesel – High School.
In the college division, those qualifying for State are 1st place Dylan Meyer of Lake Park, 2nd place Coleton Loerts of Early and 3rd place Trent Anderson of Sioux Rapids.
In the high school division, 1st place went to Riely Andriga of Sanborn, 2nd place Jackson Tormanen of Inwood and 3rd place Braden Hindt of Sheldon.
The 2022 Iowa State SkillsUSA Leadership and Skills Conference will be held at Des Moines Area Community College in Ankeny on April 8th.
SkillsUSA programs help to establish industry standards for job skill training in the lab and classroom, and promote community service. SkillsUSA is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and is also cited as a “successful model of employer-driven youth development training program” by the U.S. Department of Labor.
