Sheldon, Iowa — Some of the soldiers affiliated with the Iowa Army National Guard 2168th Transportation Company based in Sheldon will be mobilizing and heading for Europe, according to National Guard officials.
We talked to Sergeant Matthew Tracy with the National Guard, and he tells us more.
Sgt. Tracy says not all members based in Sheldon are going.
Tracy says the 15-20 people from the Sheldon, Ashton, George, and Orange City area who are going will be gone for ten months to a year. He tells us they’ll start off from Mason City with a send-off on Sunday, November 6th.
Sgt. Tracy tells us he has been in the military for 15 years and has served in Sheldon for the past couple of years. He will be going with the members who are headed to Europe.
