Northwest Iowa — We’ll see a return of sunshine today after clouds and some very early day drizzle in spots, but don’t look for a great deal of warming with temps from 10 to 20 degrees below normal.
Showers return on Saturday, and linger into Sunday, with perhaps a few rumbles of thunder here and there. Temps nudge back closer to normal (but stop short) late in the holiday weekend, and should see a mainly dry day return by Memorial Day.
A gradual warming trend will push temperatures back to near average by the middle of next week, then possibly back into the 80s in time for next weekend. Periodic chances for isolated to scattered showers and storms remain in the forecast, but a widespread heavy rainfall or severe weather episode does not appear likely in the immediate future.
