Spencer Hy-Vee Gets Bomb Threat

Spencer, Iowa — Some tense moments this Thursday, April 9th at the Spencer Hy-Vee store.

According to Spencer Police, in the 12 PM hour, Spencer Hy-Vee management contacted the Spencer Communication Center and advised they had received a bomb threat.

They say Hy-Vee management along with Spencer Police evacuated the business as quickly as possible.

Once evacuation was complete, authorities say Hy-Vee management along with emergency personnel searched the store but no suspicious devices were located.

Hy-Vee re-opened their business at about 2:40 PM.

The Spencer Police Department advises that their officers and the Division of Criminal Investigation are currently investigating the incident.

The Spencer Fire Department, State Fire Marshall’s Office, Spencer Ambulance personnel, Emergency Management, the Iowa State Patrol, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the Algona Police Department, Spencer Public Works, Hope Reformed Church, and Hy-Vee management assisted the police department.
