Spencer Man Faces 15 To Life After Pleading Guilty To Federal Meth Charge

Sioux City, Iowa — A Spencer man has pleaded guilty to a federal meth charge.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says 57-year-old Todd Williams entered the plea November 1st to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. He had previously been convicted of conspiracy to manufacture and distribute meth in 2004.

According to court documents, law enforcement executed a search warrant on March 4th of this year at Williams’ residence in Spencer where they seized 2.8 pounds of methamphetamine and about $50,000 in cash. While authorities were conducting the search, they observed Williams driving by the residence. They attempted to stop Williams who led them on a high speed chase before he was pulled over and arrested.

Sentencing is pending completion of a pre-sentence report. He faces up to 15 years in prison and a possible maximum sentence of up to life imprisonment. Williams remains in the custody of a U.S. Marshal.

The case was investigated by the Spencer Police Department, the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the Estherville Police Department, Iowa Great Lakes Drug Task Force, Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement and the Iowa DCI Laboratory.
