Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Spencer man will spend up to 25-years in state prison following sentencing on a litany of narcotics and other charges in Lyon and Clay Counties.
According to online court records, 32-year-old Jaykie Harrington’s sentences from Lyon and Clay Counties will be served concurrently.
The Clay County case dates back to October of 2020, when he was charged with eight separate crimes, four of which were felonies and four misdemeanors. Last Friday, April 22nd, according to court records, a Clay County jury found Harrington guilty of a Class B Felony controlled substance violation, Misdemeanor Child Endangerment, Felony Failure to Affix a Drug Tax Stamp, Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Misdemeanor 2nd Offense Domestic Abused Assault. He was sentenced to serve up to 25-years in prison on all those charges, and will be required to serve at least one-third of the complete sentence. The other charges were dismissed by the court.
Then on Monday, April 25th, a Lyon County District Court Judge found Harrington Guilty of one narcotics-related charge with four other charges dismissed by the court, online court records indicate. Those charges stemmed from an August 2020 incident in the parking lot at Grand Falls Casino. He was sentenced to a 5-year prison term on the Lyon County charge, with the time to be served concurrently with the sentence that had been handed down in Clay County.
