Sioux City, Iowa –A Spencer man has pleaded guilty to a federal firearms charge. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa says 26-year-old Casey Tuttle entered the plea August 29th to a charge of being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. Tuttle had previously been convicted on felony charges of burglary in the 3rd degree, possession of methamphetamine…3rd or subsequent offense, and burglary in the 2nd degree.
Evidence presented at a plea hearing showed that on April 4th of this year Spencer police stopped Tuttle riding his bike in the dark without taillights or reflectors. They also discovered Tuttle was wanted on outstanding warrants. A search of Tuttle as he was being arrested turned up some ammunition, one gram of marijuana, multiple knives, one gram of methamphetamine, a revolver, some drug paraphernalia, a scale and pills.
Tuttle remains in the custody of a U.S. Marshal pending sentencing.
