Spencer Man To Federal Prison On Child Porn Charge

Spencer, Iowa — A Spencer man who pled guilty to a possession of  child pornography charge will be spending 15 years in federal prison.

According to federal prosecutors, 30-year-old Anthony Martin, from Spencer, received the prison term after a September 22, 2021, guilty plea to receipt of child pornography. In a plea agreement, Martin admitted to knowingly receiving and attempting to receive visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. Martin further admitted to receiving and possessing approximately 13 videos containing child pornography and approximately 162 images containing child pornography. Martin was previously convicted in Iowa of Lascivious Acts with a Child.

Martin was sentenced Wednesday in Federal Court in Sioux City. He was ordered to serve 180 months’ imprisonment. He must also serve a 5-year term of supervised release after the prison term.

There is no parole in the federal system.

According to prosecutors, the case was investigated by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Martin is being held in the U.S. Marshal’s custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
