Sioux City, Iowa — Sports betting is the new thing at casinos across Iowa and online, and one area casino is gearing up for it.
Anthony Torres is the Director of Sports Book Operations at the Hard Rock Casino in Sioux City. He says they got good news last week.
As far as placing bets on a game or games on-site, Torres says they’ll have a special area for sports betting, where the current wine bar and the high-limit room is.
He tells us that they will have online betting as well, but it will be a little longer before that’s ready to go.
He says it’s a state law that until 2021, anyone who wants to wager with one of the casinos in the state has to set up an account in person at the casino. And while northwest Iowa is pretty close to three other states, you won’t be able to place bets if you’re not in Iowa.
