St. Clair To Serve As IBA President-Elect

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon High School band director has been honored by his peers statewide, by being chosen as President-Elect of the Iowa Bandmasters Association for the next year.

Orab band director Cliff St. Clair says he was elected from a slate of six candidates, one from each of the IBA Districts across the state.

Sheldon Middle School band director Jeana Larson is this year’s IBA president, and St. Clair says it’s unusual to have two directors from the same school district elected to those positions in such a short time.

He says Larson has been a great resource for him to learn about the president-elect and the president positions.

St. Clair officially takes over as president-elect at this year’s IBA Conference, filling the post currently filled by a central Iowa band director, who will become the organization’s president.

Larson will complete her term as president of the IBA at the organization’s annual conference which will be held next month in Des Moines.
