A report from Hawarden says numerous trees were down across that area about 8:55 on Friday night. A report from Rock Valley indicates tree branches were down and there was a power outage in the Rock Valley area. Both of those reports were called in by the Sioux County Emergency Management Office.

Also, a thunderstorm in Cherokee County, nine miles south of Marcus caused a tree to fall down on a machine shed; and there were several more reports of damage south of our area.

MidAmerican Energy officials urge you to call them if you see any downed lines. They say a download line is an emergency. They also say that while you’re working to clear debris, be aware that downed lines can be hidden in tree limbs or in piles of debris. They say consider any line to be energized.
