Suspect In Spencer Murder Case Pleads Not Guilty

Spencer, Iowa — A man charged in the death of another man last month in Spencer has pleaded not guilty. Authorities say 44-year-old Wade St. John, Sr., who’s from South Dakota, entered the written plea to a charge of first-degree murder.

St. John was charged in the death of Djay Joseph St. John Loudner of Spencer. Police were called to an alley in downtown Spencer a little before 10:30 pm Tuesday, August 26th, after they received a report of an unconscious man who was bleeding. Loudner was pronounced dead a short time later.

According to court documents, surveillance video showed a man being severely beaten. Police identified the suspect as St. John.

A trial date hasn’t been set yet.
