Sioux Center, Iowa — Robert W. Taylor IV has been appointed the Vice President for Student Success at Dordt University.
Taylor holds a master’s degree in leadership and organizational studies from Azusa Pacific University. He has worked at Dordt for more than 21 years, including serving as Director of Residence Life for four years and Dean of Campus Life for three years. In addition to his new role as Vice President for Student Success, Taylor will continue his work as Dean of Students, which has been his position at Dordt for four years.
As Vice President for Student Success, Taylor partners throughout the university to help students process, prepare, and grow into their vocational calling.
Taylor states that together, they strive to educate and prepare their students to be agents of stewardship and shalom amidst a formidable and ever-changing culture. His team’s chief concern is to support the physical, spiritual, mental, emotional, social, and academic health of the students that God has entrusted to the university.
In addition to continuing his leadership of Student Services, Student Health and Counseling, and the Academic Enrichment Center, Taylor will take on responsibilities for the Career Development Center and other areas.
Dr. Erik Hoekstra, president of Dordt says Taylor is a wonderful addition to the leadership team. As they live out Dordt’s mission of Christ-centered renewal in all areas of life, Dordt wants to continue to equip students well – to help them succeed not only academically but spiritually and emotionally as well. With his background in residence life and student services, Robert is a great fit for a position focused on student success. Hoekstra looks forward to seeing what he accomplishes in this new role.
Taylor says that what he enjoys most about working at Dordt is getting to know students.
He says students will always be the heartbeat that makes Dordt University such a beautiful place to work. It is exciting to walk beside students as they navigate their education at Dordt. Students bring energy, curiosity, and excitement to the campus as they engage the learning community from their unique perspectives. Taylor is always thankful for the opportunity to get to know individual students and the work that God is doing in their lives.
