Northwest Iowa — Ten new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the four northwesternmost Iowa counties on Thursday, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.
Lyon, Sioux, and O’Brien counties reported three new cases, each, with Osceola County reporting one new case. About twelve percent of northwest Iowans have tested positive for COVID since March 2020. Roughly one person in eight in this area has tested positive at some point since that time.
There were no new deaths in Thursday’s report. O’Brien’s total remains at 54, and Sioux’s remains at 66. Lyon’s remains at 40, while Osceola’s remains at 13. The death toll for the area remains at 173 since the pandemic began.
Out of the 1,420 Lyon County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,312 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 92%.
Out of the 4,681 Sioux County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 4,478 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 96%.
Out of the 1,759 O’Brien County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,628 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 93%.
Out of the 657 Osceola County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 621 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 95%.
Osceola County currently has 23 active cases, unchanged in the last 24 hours. There were 77 in O’Brien County, which is up two, and 68 in Lyon County, which is unchanged. Sioux County has 137 active cases, which is down eight.
