Three More COVID Deaths But Only Nine New Cases Here Friday

Northwest Iowa — Three new deaths and nine new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the four northwesternmost Iowa counties on Friday, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

One death was that of a Lyon County resident and two were Sioux County residents. The death toll for the area is now at 160 since the pandemic began. The death totals are 54 in O’Brien County, 61 in Sioux County, 34 in Lyon County, and eleven in Osceola County.

There were three new cases in both Lyon County and Sioux County, O’Brien County had two new cases and Osceola County reported one new case. About twelve percent of northwest Iowans have tested positive for COVID since March 2020.

Out of the 1,392 Lyon County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,241 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 89%.
Out of the 4,620 Sioux County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 4,311 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 93%.
Out of the 1,722 O’Brien County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,553 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 90%.
Out of the 652 Osceola County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 608 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 93%.

Osceola County currently has 33 active cases, which is down one from the previous day. There were 115 in O’Brien County, which is unchanged, and 117 in Lyon County, which is down one. Sioux County has 248 active cases, down 22.
