Three Nurses At Sanford Sheldon Recognized At Ceremony In Sioux Falls

Sioux Falls, SD — Three nurses from Sanford Sheldon Medical Center were awarded with the Florence Nightingale Award earlier this month at a Sanford Health nursing recognition event held in Sioux Falls.

Registered Nurse Amberlea Kaster was recognized with the award for what were called her “superior patient care and the attention to detail she provides to both the physical and emotional needs of her patients.”

Registered Nurse Kristin Hengeveld was recognized with the award for her “qualities of kindness and compassion.” They say, “She advocates for her smallest patients and has a wonderful bedside manner with new parents, helping them navigate the first days of parenthood.”

Registered Nurse Miyu Roskamp was recognized with the award for “being a strong leader and valuable resource to the team and for being an incredible mentor to her peers.”

Sanford officials tell us the Florence Nightingale Award recognizes nurses for outstanding involvement in the practice of the art and science of nursing – as evidenced by strength of character, commitment, and competence that has been recognized by their peers as an outstanding asset to the community, nursing profession, and the Sanford Health organization.

National Nurses Week is acknowledged by health care organizations and the American Nurses Association annually.
