Trio Of Projects Funded Through Hotel/Motel Tax Revenues

Sheldon, Iowa — Three local projects were beneficiaries of grants from the local Hotel/Motel Tax Fund as the result of a recent meeting of the Sheldon Marketing Committee.

Committee Chair Heidi Brown says the three organizations received a combined total of $9,762 from the fund.

Brown says the grants went to:  The Prairie Arts Council, in the amount of $5-thousand to be used for the Baker Township School renovation project; the City of Sheldon, Union Depot in the amount of $18-hundred to complete the window replacement/repair project; and the Sheldon Recreational Trails Art Project in the amount of $2,962 for metal sculpture to be created and placed along Country Club Road, where the trail turns east  along 9th Street toward the Crossroads Pavilion.

The approved grants were all the result of grant applications, which are due each year by June 30th.  The money to fund these projects comes from the Sheldon Hotel/Motel Tax Fund.  Disbursements from that fund are overseen by the Marketing Committee.
