Northwest Iowa — We’ve come to the last day of May — Motorcylce Safety Awareness Month — but motorcycles will continue to be a presence on our roads until winter, and maybe later, so it’s always important to watch out for them.
Iowa State Patrol Spokesperson, Trooper Kevin Krull tells us we need to keep our eyes peeled.
Krull says you can almost make a game of it to make yourself watch for motorcycles. And when you’re watching for them as a game, you’ll see them easier for safety reasons as well.
Krull says motorcyclists can do their part too by wearing bright colors to increase their visibility on the roads. Experts also say that while helmets are not required in Iowa, helmets and other protective outerwear save lives.
Trooper Krull made his comments on the KIWA Talk of the Town Program, which can be heard on weekday mornings at 8:30 on KIWA-FM 105.3. We also post a podcast of every Talk of The Town Program, and you can find those by clicking here.
