Northwest Iowa — Memorial Day is coming up in less than a week, and it’s one of the busiest weekends on the road.
A lot of that traffic in our general area centers on the Iowa Great Lakes area, and Iowa State Patrol Spokesperson, Trooper Kevin Krull, tells us they will be in that area — and the whole state for that matter — in force.
He tells us why they are focusing on seatbelt enforcement in particular.
Of course, while they will be focusing on seatbelt compliance, they will also be on the lookout — even more than normal — for other violations as well.
He says it all boils down to making seatbelts a habit and encouraging others in your vehicle to buckle their seatbelt as well.
Krull says the enforcement effort is statewide, through June 1st.
