Two More Generous Corporate Donations Made To Sheldon Turf Field Project

Sheldon, Iowa — More corporate donations have been made to the Sheldon Community Schools-Northwest Iowa Community College Turf Field Project.

Sheldon AD Eric Maassen tells KIWA that the fundraising effort for the project is going well.

The project has received two more generous corporate donations; $50,000 from POET Biorefining, and $20,000 from Iowa State Bank.

If you’d like to donate to the Turf Project, Maassen says it’s simple.

The turf upgrade at the Orab Football Field is a collaborative project between the Sheldon Community Schools, Northwest Iowa Community College and the City of Sheldon.  The new playing surface will be used for the Orab football team, soccer program and the marching band.  Additionally, Northwest Iowa Community College will be utilizing the grounds when they begin their intercollegiate soccer program, which is slated to begin in Fall 2024.

The goal is to have fundraising completed by the end of this year, with groundbreaking scheduled for next spring. The plan is for the Orab football team to play their first home game next season on the new turf field.
