United Fund Could Use A Holiday Gift

Sheldon, Iowa — One of the newer trends in Christmas giving is to donate to your favorite charity or the favorite charity of a loved one instead of buying them a Christmas gift. Just a reminder that you can give to one, several, or all of the twenty-one charities served by the Sheldon United Fund. And they could use the help. Donations to the 2018 Sheldon United Fund are behind.

The drive continues through the rest of the year. The goal this year is $31,000.

The fund drive is now 69% finished, with only 28 days to go. The funds are only at about 57% of goal, at $17,585. Over $13,000 has yet to be raised. To finish on goal, the drive now needs to average about $3400 per week through the rest of the year. In the last week, donors gave $570.

Contributions to any or all of the organizations served by the Sheldon United Fund may be left at any of the four Sheldon banks, or you can also send them to PO Box 41, Sheldon, IA 51201. Explanations of the organizations are also available at the banks.

Each week we’re mentioning a few of the organizations that can benefit from your donations. This time the list includes:

·Sheldon Boy Scouts
·Children’s World
·Compass Pointe (alcohol & drug treatment center)
·Dolly Parton Imagination Library (provides books for Sheldon CSD students)
·Family Crisis Center of Northwest Iowa
·Foster Grandparent Program
·Sheldon Girl Scouts

The United Fund will be assisting 21 different organizations in Sheldon and the surrounding communities this year, and the board members thank the businesses and individuals of Sheldon and the surrounding communities for their continued support.
