Unity Christian Students Role Play As Crime Scene Investigators

Orange City, Iowa — A group of Unity Christian High School students in Orange City recently had the opportunity to work a simulated crime scene with Sioux County Sheriff deputies.

Deputy Jessica Dorhout tells us the students were the investigators as they worked to solve a simulated homicide.

She says they then have to figure out who they think committed the crime.

Deputy Dorhout says this is something that the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office has done for a while at a couple of the schools in the county.

She says most of the students were able to trace the crime to the right suspect.

Organizers say the interactive experience gives students a closer look at the work of law enforcement and forensic investigators while helping them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
