Sheldon, Iowa — Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon has received a three-year accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, or “CARF.”
The accreditation is for Community Employment Services – Employment Supports, Community Employment Services – Job Development, Community Housing, Community Integration, Employee Development Services, Organizational Employment Services, and Supported Living programs at the Village.
This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards.
Village officials tell us that the CARF Survey Report included a list of 24 strengths as identified by the CARF survey team. The report stated, “VNU is mission-driven. The organization’s mission of Purpose, Privacy, and Dignity appears to be the first step in the development of any policy or action. Virtually every conversation during the course of the survey touched upon the mission statement in some manner.”
Barry Whitsell, the CEO of Village Northwest Unlimited says that he is very proud of the staff for continuing to provide excellent care and opportunities for their residents. He says that the mission of the Village is to provide Purpose, Privacy, and Dignity to the people they serve. According to Whitsell, the staff is committed to providing that service at an exceptionally high level which is why the Village voluntarily participates in the CARF International accreditation survey. He says, “The rigorous standards set by CARF ensure that the Village remains on top of regulations and best-practices within the industry.”
