Sutherland, Iowa — This nice weather is great for a number of outdoor activities. However, not for ALL outdoor activities.
After some fairly good ice on area ponds and lakes for a couple of weeks, the ice is not doing so well now. The Iowa Department of Natural Resources says you may find good ice, but the ice conditions are highly variable at this time.
And the unseasonably warm weather has resulted in the cancellation of a popular fundraising event.
Officials with Seasons Center for Behavioral Health and Autumn’s Center say they have canceled what would have been their fifth annual Ice Fishing Tournament that was scheduled for Saturday, February 10th.
They site safety concerns with the rapidly deteriorating ice conditions and say safety is their number one concern.
