Warmer Today & Wednesday

Warmer temperatures are expected today and Wednesday, along with breezy winds. Partly to mostly cloudy skies are expected today, followed by a slight chance of showers tonight into Wednesday morning. September is in the books. It was an up and down month with periods of cool and wet weather balanced by warmer and dry days. Overall, high temperatures were within one degree of normal, with three sites falling slightly below for the month. Average low temperatures were well above normal, anywhere from four to nearly seven degrees! Temperatures saw a wide spread between hottest and coldest, with summer making a strong stand in mid-September and cool fall temperatures helping us usher in October. As for precipitation, all sites were above average. Sioux Falls and Sioux City were well above average compared to Huron and Mitchell. The greatest 24 hour rainfall totals exceeded the average monthly totals at two sites: Sioux Falls and Mitchell. Sioux Falls broke two daily rainfall records, on the 19th and 20th. The 24-hour rainfall record was also shattered in Sioux Falls, with the rain on the 19th and 20th (from 5pm to 5pm).
