West Lyon Student Groups Visit Capitol, Rep. Wills

Des Moines, Iowa — Two groups of students from a Lyon County high school were in Des Moines on Tuesday and stopped to visit one of the area’s legislators.

According to staff in Representative John Wills’ office, the West Lyon FCCLA group and West Lyon Industrial Technology students visited the Capitol and his office. FCCLA stands for “Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America.”

District 1 State Representative, Republican John Wills from Spirit Lake represents Lyon and Osceola counties and the northern two-thirds of Dickinson County and has done so since January 2015. Wills is the Speaker Pro Tempore of the Iowa House of Representatives, a position he has held since January 2020.

West Lyon students come from western Lyon County, including the towns and rural areas around Inwood, Larchwood, Alvord, and Lester. Their PS-12 school is located four miles south of Larchwood or five miles north of Inwood on Highway 182.
