Des Moines, Iowa — A state representative that represents part of our area has been elected to a leadership post.
Republican State Representative John Wills of Spirit Lake has been elected by fellow House Republicans as a new House Majority Assistant Leader. Wills will replace Representative Lee Hein of Monticello who was recently selected to become the House Agriculture Chairman.
Wills says he is honored and humbled to be elected by his peers to serve as an Assistant Leader. He says he is excited for this opportunity to bring a fresh perspective to the House leadership team. He says he is also looking forward to next session where House Republicans will continue to fight to create jobs, reduce burdensome regulations on Iowa businesses, and balance the budget by spending less than the state collects. He says he would also like to thank his constituents in House District 1 for the honor of representing them in his caucus and in the Iowa House.
Wills, who is serving his first term in the House, is currently the Vice Chairman of the House Environmental Protection Committee. When not serving in the Legislature, he is the Clean Water Coordinator for the Dickinson County Soil and Water Conservation District in Spirit Lake, where he lives with his wife, Cami. John and Cami have three adult children.
