Blizzard Warning Wednesday

Northwest Iowa — The National Weather Service says get ready for a pretty sharp change in the weather by early Wednesday. Strong winds, much colder air, and snow will head our direction. Snow amounts are not expected to be very high, but if combined with strong northwest winds, may lead to travel difficulties on Wednesday.

…BLIZZARD WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM WEDNESDAY TO MIDNIGHT
CST WEDNESDAY NIGHT FOR OSCEOLA AND O’BRIEN COUNTIES…  (6 a.m. to 9 p.m. for Lyon/Sioux)

* WHAT…Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations
of 2 to 4 inches. Winds gusting as high as 55 mph.

* WHERE…In Iowa, Osceola and O`Brien Counties. In Minnesota,
Cottonwood and Jackson Counties.

* WHEN…From 10 AM Wednesday to midnight CST Wednesday night.

* IMPACTS…Plan on slippery road conditions. Widespread blowing
snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous
conditions could impact the morning and evening commute. Strong
winds could cause tree damage. The cold wind chills as low as
25 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little
as 30 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must
travel, have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded,
stay with your vehicle.
