Sioux County Attorney Thomas Kunstle says that 24-year-old Ellyn McPherson of Hawarden has been sentenced in Sioux County District Court for the crimes of Burglary in the Second Degree and Theft in the Third Degree.

On May 22, 2015, court records indicate that the Hawarden Police Department took a report of a residential burglary. Cash, credit cards, debit cards, a check book, and jewelry were reported stolen. Upon investigation, police believed that McPherson conspired with two co-defendants to commit the burglary and theft, and that McPherson entered the home to take the items.

McPherson was sentenced to a suspended ten-year prison term, and three years’ probation, during which she must complete drug court, reside in a residential treatment facility, complete victim empathy classes, and pay restitution to the victim.
