Knowledge Nugget:
Yesterday’s Knowledge Nugget was about the anti-counterfeiting measure of the “172” on the back of the $5 bill. It should be noted that it is not on the “newer” $5 bills, but rather the pre-2000 bills. During World War II, Germany tried to collapse the British economy by dropping millions of counterfeit bills over London, and although not exactly like that, adversarial nations often do use the injecting of counterfeit currency into each others’ economy as a weapon against one another today.
