In doing some looking, a couple interesting tidbits was found, first, St Patrick’s Day is the forth most alcohol consumed day in the United States, behind New Year’s, Christmas, and July 4th. The most common beverage is Guinness. Americans spend on average of $40 for every man, woman, and child on alcohol for St Patty’s Day. With all that alcohol consumption, it is surprising to know that St. Patrick’s Day in Ireland used to be a “Dry Holiday”, and by law, bars and pubs were actually closed on March 17th.
